Emily Hobart, DMD
Being a dentist allows me to help people take control of their oral health. On a daily basis I help people find relief from dental pain, make their smiles as beautiful as they can be, and assist in improving their overall health ... all things that give people a reason to smile!
I find dentistry to be the trifecta of science, art, and interpersonal connections. I enjoy using my knowledge to diagnose and address dental conditions, as well as the chance to get to know and interact with my patients. But my favorite part is using the artistic aspect of dentistry to physically sculpt teeth into something both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and then seeing how that positively impacts people’s lives.
I’d not thought about the social aspect of this profession when I chose to pursue it, but I am definitely glad for it! My patients teach me new things every day, not only about dentistry but also about life in general. I appreciate their willingness to share knowledge and experiences and, in doing so, enhance my life.
— Dr. Hobart
Dr. Hobart chooses to participate in continuing education in order to keep up with the growth and changes in the profession. This allows her to provide the best care to patients. She also seeks to inform patients of the many options available to address their individual dental concerns. Through interaction with her peers, researchers, and specialists, she is constantly learning and expanding her skillset.
In addition to regularly attending annual dental meetings, including the American Dental Association yearly meeting, the Academy of General Dentistry scientific session, and the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference, Dr. Hobart is working toward her fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. This title requires three years of working experience, 500 hours of continuing education after completing dental school, and passing a four-hour comprehensive exam in general dentistry. Dr. Hobart passed the exam in July 2017 and is finishing her CE hours in 2019.
Additionally, Dr. Hobart participates in the Mount Baker District Dental Society, which offers monthly CE classes. In 2018, as president-elect of this dental society, she was in charge of finding CE speakers for the meetings.

In the Community
Dr. Hobart enjoys participating in Project Homeless Connect, which is organized by Community Action of Skagit County. In 2018, she worked on the mobile dental van, to provide dental care to those who otherwise would not have been able to receive it. She also works four hours a week at the Skagit County Community Justice Center, where she provides dental care to the inmates.
Beyond the Office
After growing up in Ontario, Canada, and Glendale, Arizona, Dr. Hobart loves living in Anacortes. She and her partner, Brian, share their lives with Henry, a rescued pup who is half American Bulldog and half Staffordshire Terrier. They also have a robust and growing collection of plant children!
The couple loves traveling, hiking, and throwing the ball with Henry, as well as playing board games and trivia. Dr. Hobart is also an avid runner: she has run several marathons, half marathons, and mud runs.
